Directions

From the South
Take exit 13 from Interstate 93. A left from the ramp will put you on South Main Street. Go about a mile, through three traffic lights, and Gibson’s will be on your right. If you get to Pleasant Street, you’ve gone one block too far.
From the North
Take Exit 14 from Interstate 93. Take a right onto Bridge Street and move into the left hand lane for a left turn onto Main Street. Go about ½ miles, through the traffic light at Pleasant Street, and Gibson’s will be on your left, one block down.
From the East
Either take Route 101 to Interstate 93 and follow the directions above from the South, or take Route 4 until it ends in 393, take a left onto Main Street, and go 1 ½ miles until you see Gibson’s on the left. We are one block south of Pleasant Street.
From the West
If you’re coming down Interstate 89, drive until it meets Interstate 93 and travel north, following the directions from the south above. From 202/9, merge with 89 South and do the same.

Parking
Parking has historically been an issue on South Main Street, but we now have plenty of spaces to offer. There is often on-street parking right in front or across the street, and if there is not, there is always room in the new Capitol Commons parking facility directly behind us. The entrance is at 75 Storrs Street, one block to the east.

The second floor of this parking garage exits directly onto South Main Street, the south exit next to Gibson's, the north exit one building away.
If you tried the garage and hated it, try it again! They've gotten rid of the entrance gate that drove everyone crazy.

New books, new trailers

Cathie Pelletier / The return of Sy / Signed first editions. May 15th, 2013

In The One-Way Bridge, Cathie Pelletier draws readers back to the beloved town of Mattagash, a seemingly quiet New England outpost at the end of the road in Northern Maine. Yet Mattagash is anything but tranquil. While its citizens bicker publicly over small-town theft or their neighbors’ offensive mailboxes, they privately struggle through deeper life issues: scandal, loss, failed ambitions, and the scars of war.
Cathie Pelletier was born and raised on the banks of the St. John River, at the end of the road in Northern Maine.  She is the author of 9 other novels, including The Funeral Makers (NYTBR Notable Book), The Weight of Winter (winner of the New England Book Award) and Running the Bulls (winner of the Paterson Prize for Fiction).
We've never had a novel by Cathie be so quick out of the starting gate. It really seems to have struck a chord locally and the buzz on it is very strong. Come check it out. Cathie will join us on Friday, May 17, at 7 PM.

It's always a joy when Sy Montgomery comes to town. Sy, the author of The Good Good Pig and Spell of the Tiger, is one of the nation's best nature writers and she hails from tiny Hancock, NH, right down the road.  This time Sy has written a children's book about the adventures of Snowball, the Dancing Cockatoo. The minds and souls of animals are never so vivid to us as when they are being described and celebrated by this gifted writer. Join us Saturday...
