We love author events that illustrate how special New Hampshire is. This Thursday, we celebrate two books that succeed incredibly well at this.
Becky Field's Different Roots, Common Dreams documents the lives of NH’s immigrants and refugees — weddings, funerals, workplaces, children at play, sacred ceremonies, and joyful celebrations. Her photographs, and the stories she has gathered by NH’s refugees, help us understand the journeys and show us the beauty and resilience of NH’s new American families.
Helen Brody, with photographer Leslie Tuttle, have produced the book New Hampshire Women Farmers, a look at how women in the Granite State are revitalizing farming by creating value-added products and developing new and vital markets for their locally grown food. Such innovations keep farms profitable and relevant, even as they work to protect the open land we all value.
Both of these books make excellent gifts, and we hope you'll join us on Thursday at 5:30 PM to learn more about them and to buy them for everyone on your list who loves our state!
