Storytime with illustrator Mark Hoffmann

Saturday, October 12th, 2019, 11 am

Picturebook illustrator Mark Hoffmann joins Gibson's to share his newest books in a storytime! He'll share the stories and pictures of his newest projects, the high-flying poetic Hawks Kettle, Puffins Wheel: And Other Poems of Birds in Flight (written by Susan Vande Griek), and the down to earth Poop (written by Poppy Champignon).  We'll also have Fruit Bowl on hand, which Mark wrote and illustrated!

Hawks Kettle: Puffins Wheel: This lyrical celebration of birds explores the fascinating ways these creatures move through the air. For each of twelve birds from around the world, a captivating poem describes the animal's distinctive movement and the special word associated with that movement, from geese who skein and puffins who wheel, to crows who mob and starlings who murmurate.

Poop: A funny picture book about the ever-popular word poop.

Fruit Bowl: Who belongs in the fruit bowl? Apples, check. Blueberries, check. Tomato, che-- Wait, what?! Tomato wants to join the other fruits, but does he belong? The perfect mix of botany and a bunch of bananas!

About Mark: "I am currently working as a children's book author/illustrator, editorial illustrator, and fine artist. I am also a professor at Montserrat College of Art in the illustration department.

After growing up in Minnesota, I moved to the east coast for college and remained here ever since. I currently live in southern New Hampshire with a lovely wife, a goofy son, two crazy kitties and a lazy dog."
