This month Gibson's Book Club is reading The Words in My Hands, by Asphyxia. Part coming of age, part call to action, this fast-paced #ownvoices novel about a Deaf teenager is a unique and inspiring exploration of what it means to belong. Gibson's Book Club is also reading The Girl Who Drank the Moon, by Kelly Barnhill. This Winner of the 2017 Newbery Medal, tells the story of a girl named Luna who, after being raised by a witch named Xan, must figure out how to handle the magical powers she was accidentally given. She must control her powers before it's too late.
Our book club is free and open to the public, newcomers are encouraged to try us out! Club books are chosen democratically by the participants; they've chosen an eclectic, ambitious list of books for the coming year: join us for every meeting, or deal yourself in as the spirit moves you.
