Poetry Society of NH: Alexandria Peary and Jason Tandon

The Poetry Society of New Hampshire meets at Gibson's ten times a year! This month the headlining poets are Alexandria Peary and Jason Tandon. Come with your verse appreciating ears on!


Alexandria Peary is the author of six books, including The Water Draft (Spuyten Duyvil 2019), Prolific Moment: Theory and Practice of Mindfulness for Writing (Routledge 2018), and Control Bird Alt Delete (University of Iowa Press). Her work has received the Iowa Poetry Prize, the Slope Editions Book Prize, and the Joseph Langland Award from the Academy of American Poets. In addition to poetry, she writes fiction and creative nonfiction and has published in the Yale Review, New American Writing, Gettysburg Review, Boston Review, North American Review, Painted Bride Quarterly, and Crazyhorse. She specializes in mindful writing to help others reduce writing blocks and maintains the blog www.prolificmoment.com She will share a few mindful writing techniques at her reading at Gibson’s. She is a professor in the English Department at Salem State University and is a resident of Londonderry, NH.

Born in Hartford, CT in 1975, Jason Tandon is the author of four books of poetry, including The Actual World, Quality of Life, and Give over the Heckler and Everyone Gets Hurt, winner of the St. Lawrence Book Award from Black Lawrence Press. His poems have appeared in Ploughshares, Prairie Schooner, Beloit Poetry Journal, AGNI Online, Barrow Street, and Esquire, among others. He earned his B.A. and M.A. from Middlebury College, and his M.F.A. from the University of New Hampshire, where he studied with Charles Simic. Since 2008, he has taught in the Arts & Sciences Writing Program at Boston University.
