Poetry Society of New Hampshire - Sara Backer & JS Graustein

The Poetry Society of New Hampshire meets at Gibson's Bookstore this month! Headliners this evening will be Sara Backer and JS Graustein. An open mic follows their readings.

Sara Backer will read from her new chapbook, Scavenger Hunt, which includes poems published in A cappella Zoo, Arc Poetry (Canada), Carve, Crab Creek Review, Gargoyle, PANK, The Pedestal, The Poet's Touchstone, So to Speak, and Southern Poetry Review. Her earlier chapbook, Bicycle Lotus, won the 2015 Turtle Island Poetry Award. She  lives in Hollis, NH, teaches part-time at UMass Lowell, and is currently pursuing an MFA at Vermont College of Fine Arts. 
JS Graustein is the new editor of the Poetry Society of New Hampshire's journal, The Poets' Touchstone. She is also Editor in Chief of the Meredith-based small press Folded Word, and the calligrapher for its haiku collections. She holds a Master of Science in Biology from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb where she studied wetland dynamics. She also holds a Literary Publishing Certificate from Emerson College, Boston. She has taught chapbook workshops, written a non-fiction book for Atlantic Publishing, and served as co-editor for the anthology On a Narrow Windowsill: Fiction and Poetry Folded onto Twitter. She contributed prose poems and photographs to her first co-authored book, Water Ways, a collaboration with Copper Canyon Press co-founder William O'Daly.
