Grace Mattern is a poet, writer, mother, grandmother, widow, partner, friend, family member, gardener, triathlete, hiker and for 30 years was the Executive Director of the NH Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. Add to this list "poet", and join us for the launch of her newest volume of verse, The Truth About Death, featuring a reading from the book, book-signing, the original painting on the book cover, and a chance to view the map of the book Grace created when working on the manuscript at Vermont Studio Center.
"The Truth About Death takes the reader on an exhilarating hike up the slope of love, loss, grief and anger to arrive, breathless, at the summit of memory and acceptance . These poems are honest and profoundly sad, chronicling as they do the trajectory of a life partnership, a love affair cut short. But they are also sexy and funny and real. Mattern's book should be in everyone's back pocket...a field guide to death and love. Painstakingly annotated. Wonderfully observed. A survival handbook."-Marie Harris
